Death comes suddenly, are you ready for it? It has been a rough few weeks for me emotionally. In the last three weeks two of my friends died suddenly. On was on vacation and collapsed in his hotel room. One died in his sleep. His wife went in to find out why he wasn’t up yet and found that he had died. Both of these men were only in their 60s when the Lord determined their time on this earth was over and it was time to bring them home.

Are you ready for when your time runs out? Too many of us live as if tomorrow is guaranteed. We put off our dreams and goals for later thinking someday we will get to them. For far too many someday never comes.

It is so very important that we make the most out of our limited time in this life. We need to make every day count because we do not know how many days the Lord is going to give us on this earth. He wants us to be good stewards of all He gives us, including the days He gives us to live this life. That is why having a life roadmap is so vitally important. It helps you live a life of purpose, making the most out of every day of your life.

A life roadmap is a vision for where you want to go in life and a step-by-step plan for getting you there. I like to think of it as the AAA Trip-Tik for your life. A life roadmap sets you up to achieve your life purpose and to fulfill your God-given potential so even if your life ends sooner than you expected you will have accomplished much with the time God has given you.

I find some of life’s best lessons in the most unusual places. Today I learned something in the bathroom that I just can’t help but share.

I had just finished using the toilet and reached over for some toilet paper. To my displeasure I found nothing but an empty roll. I got a little upset and thought to myself, “What selfish person used the last of the paper and didn’t replace the roll?” Disgusted I leaned over and opened the door to the cabinet under the sink where we keep the toilet paper. This is when things got interesting.

I reached inside and found no toilet paper. Now I began to panic. There I sat, stranded on the toilet, in need of TP and there was none to be found. I looked on the back of the toilet. Sometimes we keep extra rolls there, but there were none there either. I looked all around the room in the usual places we keep TP hoping that somewhere in this bathroom I would find the much needed commodity.

Finding none, I sat pondering my options. I contemplated my situation for what seemed like minutes. I hung my head trying to figure a way out of this situation when suddenly I noticed just inches away from my feet a big, glorious, mega bag of toilet paper!

The answer to my problem was just inches away from me all the time but I didn’t notice it until I was desperate. I had looked in all the usual places: on the roller, in the cabinet, on the back of the toilet, but no solution was to be found. It wasn’t until I was forced to think differently that I found an abundance of solutions right there at my feet.

Isn’t that so much like life? We get in such a rut. Whenever we are faced with problems or challenges we look for solutions in all the usual places. What awesome solutions might we be missing that are just lying at our feet just because we don’t know how to think differently?

Thinking differently is something a life coach can help you do. A life coach helps you identify the ruts in your life that are hindering your growth. It has become an overused cliché, but it really is true of life coaches: A life coach helps you “think outside the box” to get beyond your ruts and find new solutions, new ways of thinking that help you reach your life goals.
